Fernández-Huerta (Spanish Flesch)
The Spanish-language adaptation of Flesch Reading Ease. Same 0–100 scale.
Fernández-Huerta is the standard readability formula for Spanish text, published by José Fernández-Huerta in 1959. It adapts Flesch Reading Ease to Spanish syllable structure (Spanish words are typically longer in syllables than English). Formula: 206.84 − 0.60 × P − 1.02 × F, where P is syllables per 100 words and F is sentences per 100 words. Results are on the same 0–100 scale, with 60+ considered easy. Regional Spanish variants may score slightly differently — the formula is calibrated to peninsular Spanish.
