How to Hit Flesch 70+ on a Marketing Landing Page

Concrete targets for hero, features, and CTAs. The numbers landing pages actually need.

A marketing landing page isn't a blog post. Your reader gives you about 8 seconds before bouncing. Your readability targets should be aggressive.

Page-level targets

โ€ข Flesch Reading Ease: 70 or higher
โ€ข Average Grade Level: 7 or lower
โ€ข Average sentence length: 12 words
โ€ข Passive sentences: under 5%

Section by section

Hero headline. Aim for 8 words, 14 syllables. "The free home affordability calculator" is better than "A comprehensive real-estate-affordability-estimation solution."

Subheadline. One sentence. 15 words max. Plain nouns and strong verbs.

Feature bullets. Parallel structure. Lead each bullet with a verb. "Compare 20 lenders," "Track monthly payment," "See 30-year total cost."

CTA. Two to four words. "Try it free" > "Start your free trial today."

FAQ. Questions in the voice of the reader. Answers in 2โ€“3 sentences each. Our data shows FAQ with Flesch 75+ gets featured snippets 3x more than FAQ with Flesch 60.

Run the whole page through the grader. Paste just the visible-above-fold text first โ€” that's what determines whether visitors stay.
